Hi, I am Josh of JP Wildlife Photography.
I’m a wildlife photographer based in Yorkshire, with an interest in wildlife that began in childhood and has deepened over the years. I took up photography to document the animals and scenes I encountered, and that practical habit naturally evolved into a lasting passion for wildlife photography. Today I enjoy photographing animals in their natural surroundings and sharing those special moments and stories through JP Wildlife Photography.
History of JP Wildlife Photography
While completing an HNC in Animal Management I travelled to South Africa and experienced my first safari. Seeing and photographing free-roaming African wildlife — from elephants and lions to antelope and birds — in their natural habitat transformed my interest in photography. That trip not only deepened my commitment to wildlife conservation but also motivated me to pursue nature photography more seriously, combining field knowledge with a growing skillset in wildlife imaging.
After University
After university I volunteered in conservation to gain practical experience, but found the field difficult to enter and often requiring substantial prior experience. Meanwhile I continued to improve my photography and travelled across the UK—Yorkshire Coast, Isle of Mull, Northumberland—seeking opportunities to photograph wildlife. Those trips expanded my skills, exposed me to new techniques and environments, and deepened my passion for nature photography.
The Start of JP Wildlife Photography
In 2025, I took part in a programme with The King’s Trust, where I discovered their Enterprise Scheme, which helps young people turn their ideas into a business. Through the scheme, I was given the practical support and personalised guidance I needed to develop my skills, take my passion for wildlife photography further, and begin the exciting journey of launching JP Wildlife Photography.
